PONDERABLES
Why doesn’t the NHL ban avowed Putin supporter Alex Ovechkin?
Was there ever a more annoying radio commercial than WestJet’s whispering agent?
JUSTIN TRUDEAU PONDERABLES
Given how much he loves globetrotting, does he understand he’s supposed to be governing here in Canada?
Why does he hate Alberta so much? (See “profitable opportunities ignored” item below.)
Was there ever a better description of Trudeau than Rex Murphy’s comment that “he’s more woke than awake?”
THINGS I FIRMLY BELIEVE
Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre, was right when he said governor of the Bank of Canada, Tiff Macklem, should be fired.

AN APPALLING WASTE OF TAXPAYERS’ MONEY
It turns out the ArriveCan app scandal is actually much worse than originally reported; and It’s not just that the Trudeau government paid over $54 million for an app many IT experts insist could have been developed for under $100,000. What’s now been revealed is the millions were paid to an Ottawa firm consisting of just two employees who did no work themselves but hired legitimate IT firms to develop the app, for which the two apparently skimmed off exorbitant commissions for simply hiring a contractor the government could have hired on its own.
This is another example of Trudeau’s egregious lack of concern about wasting taxpayers’ money. But I guess that can be expected from a government headed by a trust fund baby who has never had to earn a dollar in his life.
IMMENSELY PROFITABLE OPPORTUNITIES IGNORED
Back in August, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz begged prime minister Trudeau to sell large quantities of liquified natural gas to his country. Trudeau’s excuse for not doing so was “there’s no business case” for making such a deal. It seems he has now done the same thing to Japan’s prime minister Kishida Fudio. How many billions of dollars has this idiotically wrong-headed stance cost Canada? And why did cabinet members (especially deputy prime minister and finance minister, Chrystia Freeland) let him get away with such an absurdity? Trudeau obviously doesn’t even know what a business case is.
U.S. GUN VIOLENCE
According to The Gun Violence Archive (a U.S. non-profit research group) there have already been over 150 people killed and injured in mass shootings in the U.S. this year, which reminds me of a conversation I had with an American friend a few years ago. I asked him why owning a gun is considered an inalienable constitutional right in the U.S. His reply was, “As long as the military has guns, every citizen must be allowed to have them too.” When I asked him why, he answered, “To protect ourselves from the military.” I then inquired whether he knew of any American citizens ever being randomly attacked by anyone in the military. “No,” he admitted
