PONDERABLES
Has any MLB team other than the Blue Jays ever had four full-time players whose fathers also had solid careers in the big leagues? I’m referring, of course, to Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, and Daulton Varsho. Their fathers, respectively, were Vlad Sr., Dante, Craig, and Gary.
Commander, President Biden’s dog, has bitten eleven Secret Service men. As much as I love and admire dogs, isn’t it time this dangerous beast was put down? And isn’t it too bad Biden doesn’t have as much bite as his dog?
THINGS I FIRMLY BELIEVE
Volodymyr Zelensky is the greatest leader of his country since Winston Churchill.
There are far too many politicians who crave power but who don’t have the skills to handle the responsibilities power entails.
We had a miniature poodle that had a larger vocabulary than Donald Trump.
THE TRUDEAU GOVERNMENT’S NAZI FIASCO
House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota resigned after inviting a former Nazi to sit in the House as a guest of honour. His resignation was the right thing to do. Rota should have found out out exactly who this person was before inviting him to the House and then leading a standing ovation in his honour.
AND THEN THERE’S LIBERAL HOUSE LEADER KARINA GOULD
Liberal house leader Karina Gould’s failed attempt to get unanimous consent to expunge the whole Nazi episode from Hansard (the official record of parliamentary debates) was manifestly absurd and about as wrong-headed as one can imagine. Was she acting on Trudeau’s instructions? If so, and the Prime Minister didn’t have the guts to move this motion himself he should have just left it alone.
On the other hand, this isn’t the first time Gould has taken a ridiculous stand. When earlier this year the Trudeau government revealed plans to replace the image of the Vimy Ridge Memorial on Canadian passports, she said “the new image should be of polar bears, people jumping into a lake and birds in winter, which really captures the spirit of who we are as Canadians.” Egad! She obviously doesn’t realize that Vimy Ridge was the impetus behind Canada being internationally recognized as a nation worthy of praise.
CLEARING THE AIR
I get a lot of criticism from followers accusing me of antipathy toward Liberals. It’s not Liberals per se for whom I have an aversion; it’s Justin Trudeau.
There are many Liberal MPs for whom I have enormous respect and the majority of my friends are Liberals; but I readily admit to having no respect whatsoever for Justin Trudeau. As I’ve written here before, if Justin’s last name was anything other than Trudeau he would still be flitting from part-time job to part-time job, living off his grandfather’s trust fund, and maybe still performing in black face.
